Here comes Hollywood!
Kinross in da Moonlight
by Joe Paczkowski
Our Township Supervisor
has made his plan known.
Yes, he has a plan. What
kind of a plan you may ask?
"I was hired by Twentieth
Century Fox to be an extra
on the production of several
minutes of Die Hard 2."
says Oberle in a
recent letter to the editor.
Does this mean as a member
of the Screen Actor Guild he
will take another trip to
Hollywood to find answers to
our economic problems? If so
I say go West young man...go
West. I had no idea he was
working so closely with
Governor Granholm who he
affectionately refers to as
Aunt Jenny. Seriously folks,
this is his answer to the
economic development of
Kinross Township. Lets do
the math. He says the
Chippewa EDC got $30,000
when Die Hard came here to
shoot. Well I guess the
Chippewa EDC can put that
into their pocket but
Kinross isn't likely to see
much of it. What's next? Oh
yeah he got paid as an
extra. Everyone line up and
we will make a list for
Hollywood to use for extras.
I am sure they pay $20 or
$30 bucks a day for the
couple of days they use you.
Make sure to put that in you
family's budget for the next
10 year's. What's left
besides screen credits for
Kinross? Well we can be real
positive about the idea and
hope that Jason can use his
Hollywood influence to bring
us say 5 movies a year for
the next 20 years. Can we
budget that? I sure wish he
would have worked this hard
on activating the Kinross
Economic Development
Commission. Three years
later and he still has not
got around to appointing
anyone. John Gaines wanted
to be on the EDC but Jason
Oberle said "no, you’re too
old John". Make sure you’re
on his good side or he won’t
let you be in the movie he
plans on making. He has
ordained himself the
Director of this project and
urges all the surrounding
communities to come and
audition for him and Oh Yea,
he is going to let the Sault
Tribe produce it for him.
The good news is that the
KBA is already producing a promotional video
to be used on kinross.biz as
well as the State website
but we will focus on
promoting Kinross /
Kincheloe like we should
unlike Jason's Hollywood
production.
What he does not
understand about the
Governors program is that it
is a statewide program which
is meant to impact an entire
state as a whole. Using an
example one should realize
that the impact such a plan
may have on Kinross or even
the Northeast UP would be
similar to buying a lotto
ticket. Yes you might get
lucky but you can't run your
household budget on it and
the odds of winning
repeatedly are non existent.
Don't worry though Jason.
Just in case your grandiose
plans don't work out we plan
on putting you in the movies
anyway. Well not quite but
we will be video recording
your performance twice
monthly at the Township Board
meetings and making it
available for your subjects
to view right here on kinross.biz.
Are you willing to risk
your families well being on
such a pipe dream? I'm not.
I will continue to work with
the local citizens and
businesses on a real plan
for change. Something
tangible that we can build a
future on. |
